Saturday Mornings

I love saturday mornings...everything seems to go in slow motion...I wake up early (yes people, I am one the odd ones who likes waking up early and DOESN'T like sleeping in till the afternoon like my housemate!!!!)

Anywho, did laundry and ate yummy yogurt cheesecake for breakfast...and drank tea for 1/2 hour....and watched my nice neighbors walk their dogs...they're all old and adorably english...saturday mornings would be what I call a typical english morning...none of the students on our street are awake (apart from me apparently) and you see the locals come out and tend to their pretty gardens and walk their dogs and greet each other with "Ello there duck, ows your morning"...its very adorable.

Wish I knew how to garden - despite the fact that my house plants have indeed survived the year...I don't think I can say the same thing for stuff planted in the garden...its easy when you only have to water whenever you remember (2-5wks ish) and don't have to deweed (or whatever it is people pull out)...

Right...so here my update on the GP situation...I went on wednesday and had a great time...but only because I shadowed a different doctor from my usual one...he was from africa and he's a pastor (in his spare time)...actually he used to be a paediatric surgeon but decided to go into General Practise because he wanted more time to do his pastor stuff - how cool is that - I've always wanted to be paediatric surgeon - now I'll have a link...if I don't come up with stupid answers....but so far so good...

Anywho, gotta get back to anatomy...bye bye

day 2

I just finished day 2 of year two and already there loads to do....geesh...do they not believe in easing in??? Anywho, started my module on the Alimentary system, kidney/endocrine/urinary system, nutrition and metabolism, professional development, communication skills (which by the way is as pointless as it sounds - ohh well- must have some hidden benefits that only gets revealed when you're old and wrinkly)....and many many more....

I go on my first GP visit tomorrow and I'm crazy nervous - not because I don't like GP's but mine makes me feel tiny and insignificant infront of the patient....its not fun...I'll post all the horrible details tomorrow...

on the brighter note...we're got very cool housemates this year...one of them is an incredibly CLEAN person - which is good because I absolutely hate having to clean up before studying.. anywho, chris cleaned the entire bathroom, and kitchen and living room and today he put together 3 bookshelfs from IKEA as well as my drawer cabinet....AMAZING!!!!! (I'm working on the other one...but he's a politics student and as such is very good at debating - grrrrrrrrr!!!! - thats ok though....he took me and andrea to go see GREASE so he's forgiven:)

Ohhhhh and you wont believe where I went the other day....to one of the old churches in nottingham...I was walking in the city when I decided to go into one of the cathedrals...apparently this one was built in the 11th century - it was very beautiful - I'm always amazed at how peaceful these churches are. Even though St. Peters is literally in the middle of the city, as soon as you walk in its like everything else outside disappears and its just you in Gods house, its one of the most surreal feeling I know of and I've only experienced them inside cathedrals...

I also went to nottingham museum, complete with 18th century school, caves and air raid shelter... very intriguing!!!

well thats it for now
bye bye

and it starts once again

I black, you folks white...

My sister sent me this....I cracked up laughing out loud...it was very embarrassing..some black guy in texas wrote it apparently:

I black, you folks white...

When I born, I black,
when I grow up, I black,
when I go in sun, I black,
when I cold, I black,
when I scared, I black,
when I sick, I black,
and when I die, I still black.

You white folks....
when you born, you pink,
when you grow up, you white,
when you go in sun, you red,
when you cold, you blue,
when you scared, you yellow,
when you sick, you green,
when you bruised, you purple,
and when you die, you gray
So who you callin' colored folk's ???

Grease

I went to the GREASE the musical yesterday at theater royal nottingham...and it was amazing...I LOVE GREASE!!!! It totally made you want to wear a big skirt and tight sweater and cool bowling alley shoes...
I think my housemate and I are thinking of going to The nutcracker next...very cool - never been to a live ballet before - of course I have to wait until I get money into my account before I buy the tickets but thats another story...very funny though as I've just received a letter from the bank stating that my new bank card is ready for me to pick up....good use that'll be without any actually money in the account!!! ohhh well - I guess things like that happen; gives you something to talk about when you're old and wrinkly...look forward to retelling that story over and over and over and over...

Went to wollaton park today...its absolutely gorgeous...and huge (1.2km) and its got deer - loads of them and they just wander around...i.e not fenced off but walk around where the people go... very cool...I took picture but only on a normal camera...will post pictures soon though don't worry..

bye bye for now

nothing new

nothing really new has happened - except it has once again started to rain...yes - the flood gates of heaven are indeed opening once more on england...

On the bright side:
1) grass is going to be greener
2) psoriasis sufferers will find relief from their dry skin
3) cars and sidewalks will be naturally washed clean
4) the Canadian geese that wander aimlessly on our campus will have loads to drink (as will the squirls)
5) flowers open up more apparently which is good as I love flowers
6) no one will question if you drink copious amounts of hot chocolate or tea - nothing, after all, goes better on a rainy day
7) it sets the perfect atmosphere for day-dreaming - I do so love day-dreaming

On the Darker side:
1) my hair has once more turned into a black cotton ball regardless of what I attempt to do with it
2) earthworms have taken to the sidewalks and slugs have sought refuge in my living room... very distressing...and I don't even have salt to stop them in their invasion...although I'd hate to kill them (it is at such times when a boyfriend would be quite handy - someone who would humor me and my crazyness notions and take all the slugs outside and let them loose somewhere far away from people, and cars, and cats.)
3) a higher proportion of people experience depression during such weather
4) I've started to become lazy - not good..am starting year 2 in a few days
5) its irritating carrying ones shopping home in the rain
6) I can't take walks into beeston (well I could but it wouldn't be the same as the little accordian playing man wont be there)

Anywho, thats it for now.........

hi

ok ok...I know...I havn't posted in forever....I'd try to come up with an excuse but...I really don't have a good one...

As you all know the summer back in edmonton has come and gone - WHAT THE HECK DID I DO ALL SUMMER....I vaguely remember going camping for a bit, music camp (I think the image of 37 girls has been permenently etched into my brain), and of course THE Guy/Decker WEDDING...yey I love wedding and it was such a beautiful wedding - one of the absolute best I've been to - though I may be slightly biased!!!!! Everything went smashingly (and whatever wasn't planned added even more character)...I met some really amazing people and re-met those I've met before - it was all good...the happy couple are now in the carribean somewhere and alas I am in England...

I had a horrible surprise when I got here - apparently someone cloned my UK bank card before I left and has been using it the entire time I was away...grrrrr...he's drained my entire account...over £1000...horribe horrible man (or woman)...anywho, at least I'll get it back in 3-4 weeks ...ish...

Other than that I do love England...I went for a walk in Beeston yesterday - it was one of those perfect summer days and what made it even better was this little old man who played pretty songs on the accordian in the middle of the cobble stone street (Mike you would have loved it)...it was soooooooo romantic...

and my house is very pretty...I will post pictures once I have them I promise...and my neighbor has a beautiful german shephard named...I forgot...but he was beautiful...

Anywho, I'm gonna go now - don't you all freak out if I don't post again tomorrow

and Lucinda - I havn't found out where emerdale is filmed yet but once I do I'll go there and take a picture for you ....:)

bye bye
